Product Description
The 2019 Badenhorst 'Secateurs' Red Blend hails from the Swartland region in South Africa. This blend is a harmonious mix of Cinsault, Shiraz, Grenache, Tinta Barocca, and Mourvedre. The Badenhorst winery employs traditional winemaking techniques. The fruit is fermented in old oak casks, concrete vats, or open wooden vats, depending on the grape's color and variety. After fermentation, the red wines go through long post - ferment macerations, followed by pressing and aging in casks or 4000 - litre foudres. The vineyard mainly has Chenin Blanc, Cinsault, and Grenache, while other grape varieties are sourced from nearby areas and blended seamlessly. This is the 9th vintage of Badenhorst's Cinsault Blend. The wine has a lovely perfume of pepper, spice, and red fruit, leading to a supple and smooth palate. The body is slightly grippy and fresh, with a refreshing and dry finish. Thanks to the Cinsault in the blend, this young wine has great aging potential. It pairs perfectly with any beef or venison meal.
To enjoy this Badenhorst 'Secateurs' Red Blend, first, let the wine breathe for about 30 minutes to an hour before serving. Pour it into a standard wine glass and take your time to savor the aroma and flavor. You can serve it at a slightly cool temperature, around 18 - 20 degrees Celsius. When it comes to pairing, as mentioned, it goes really well with beef or venison dishes. If you have leftovers, make sure to re - cork the bottle tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. This wine can age beautifully, but if you're eager to drink it now, that's also a great choice. Just remember to keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
