Castell d'Encus 'Ekam' - Riesling / Albarino

This 2019 white wine is a unique blend of 85% Riesling and 15% Albarino from Costers del Segre, Spain. Winemaker Raül Bobet chose this spot in the Pyrenees mountains in 2001. It's possibly the highest vineyard site in Catalonia, reaching up to 3280 ft. This location helps reduce the impact of climate change. The estate has 95 hectares, but only 23 are for vines. The rest is dense woods, creating a polyculture that benefits the vineyards and the overall bioculture. 'Ekam' is a lively blend. On the nose, you'll smell zesty lemon, green pear, sweet almond blossom, and fragrant honey. On the palate, there are flavors of dried apricot, juicy lychee, ripe grapefruit, and a hint of salt. It has a rich texture with crisp acidity, and it keeps changing in the glass, impressing with every sip.

To enjoy this wine, first, chill it in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours. Serve it in a white wine glass to enhance the aroma. You can pair it with light seafood, salads, or soft cheeses. When storing, keep it in a cool, dark place. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. If you have an open bottle, cork it tightly and put it back in the fridge.
