Product Description
This 2018 red wine is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan from Costers del Segre, Spain. The esteemed Familia Torres winery traces its history back to 1870, when brothers Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell established it near the Vilafranca del Penedès railway station. Over the next century, after royal visits, recovery from the Spanish Civil War damage, and innovations in winemaking and brandy production, Familia Torres expanded globally with vineyards in Chile and California, earning praise from wine critics worldwide. 'Purgatori' comes from their original Spanish vineyards, where the fruit is organically grown on slopes up to 1800ft in altitude. It offers rich, intense flavors of dark forest fruits and blackberries, with a touch of blueberry jam, complemented by notes of rosemary, graphite, and spice. It pairs perfectly with lamb chops cooked with sizzled garlic.
To enjoy this Familia Torres 'Purgatori' red wine, first let it breathe for about 30 minutes to an hour. This helps to open up the flavors and aromas. Serve it at a temperature around 60 - 65°F (15 - 18°C) for the best taste. As for food pairing, it goes really well with lamb chops cooked with sizzled garlic as mentioned. But you can also try it with other grilled meats like steak or game. Keep the wine in a cool, dark place when not in use. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or in a place with extreme temperature changes, as this can affect the quality of the wine. If you have an unopened bottle, it can last for several years, but once opened, try to finish it within a few days and store it in the fridge with a cork.
