The 2022 Schioppettino from Friuli Colli Orientali, Italy, hails from one of our beloved family-run wineries with a medieval history. Visintini is nestled in the hills behind Corno di Rosazzo. Schioppettino is a finicky grape that almost vanished in the late 19th century as growers swapped it for more popular and profitable varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon. Due to its challenging nature, the Visintini family only bottles this wine about once a decade. You'll taste plush black fruits, plums, violets, and a strong hint of black pepper. It pairs perfectly with Italian sausage and fennel pizza.
