In 2022, this exceptional wine is crafted from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes. It hails from Saumur Champigny, France. Château de Villeneuve, situated in Souzay - Champigny, has vineyards nestled in the shadow of a 15th - century church's steeple. The Villeneuve family has owned these vineyards since the late 16th century. After a family member died in the Battle of Yorktown under Lafayette's command during the American Revolutionary War, the estate got its current name. Today, Jean - Pierre Chevalier manages the estate following organic principles, creating some of the best Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs in the Saumur region. This Cabernet Franc offers a lovely stony minerality, accompanied by the flavors of red berries and a touch of earthiness. It pairs perfectly with grilled sausage and peppers!
