Coca i Fito -'Ruxe Ruxe'- Mencia

This 2019 Mencia red wine hails from the rural Denomination of Origin (DO) Terra Alta in southern Catalonia, Spain. Until recently, wines from this area were mainly for local consumption because of its secluded location. So secluded and scenic that Picasso spent summers there painting the countryside's rolling hills. The DO includes both long - standing and new wineries in 12 municipalities, using a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. Made from 100% Mencia grapes grown in soils mixed with slate, clay, and limestone, it has a distinctively fresh and fruity flavor. With notes of dark berries, cherries, redcurrant, and a hint of saltiness, it pairs perfectly with poultry dishes or sheep cheeses.

To enjoy this wine, simply open the bottle and pour it into a wine glass. Let it breathe for a few minutes to enhance its aroma and flavor. You can serve it at a slightly chilled temperature, around 55 - 60°F. When pairing it with food, poultry dishes like roasted chicken or turkey are great choices, as are sheep cheeses.
